My Help files are designed for beginners.

They show you how to use the major options of the various programmes.

I have kept to a minimum the amount of options included in my help files,

but they are enough to get you on your way.

In time and with patience you will be able to progress and use advance options.

Note: Adobe Photoshop is now bundled as part of Adobe Master Collection, and

Adobe Creative Cloud http://www.adobe.com/il_en/products/creativecloud.html

Both offer new tools and programmes to either work on line or the desktop.

Jasc Paintshop Pro is now Corel Paintshop Pro x9 and is a fully comprehensive

photo/picture editor; There are several versions which you can download.

Although my help files cover popular photo editing programmes,

many less known freeware free for use at no cost excellent programmes exist containing similar options.

Paint.net: http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

Phoxo a compact 4.51 Megabyte: http://www.phoxo.com/en/

For Linux users, Phoxo will also work when installed on Playonlinux also.

The Portable version of Photofiltre.

Pinta For Linux is easy to use similar to the Microsoft Windows version Paint.net. Pinta (version 1.6 is the latest).

Gimp is a completely free very comprehensive Adobe Photoshop/Corel Paintshop Pro alternative. Professionals are known to use it.
Gimp is available for use on Microsoft Windows/Mac OS and in many Linux versions ready installed for use.

For those who do not want to install and work on-line, there's http://pixlr.com/editor/ at http://pixlr.com/.

This is an excellent free photo/picture editor. You can use it in any Internet Browser on any system,
Microsoft Windows, Mac and Linux Distros (distributions).

There are other excellent photo editors available do look for them. Many are completely free to download and use without advertising.

A word of advice won't go amiss! Before editing any photo, create two folders.

One folder for the original, and the second for any edited copies.

Save each edited photo with a different version or name.

Never be tempted to edit the original photo!

If for some unexpected reason something goes wrong

you will have the original photo to start all over again.

Below are two download links to the condensed English version Help File that I wrote on Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7: For the newer version Paint Shop Pro 8, click on the buttons above.

This is the link for the Win Help version as supplied with many programmes - not supported in Microsoft Vista Windows. To open in Microsoft Vista, download the Win-Help viewer, the link for this is below. This Win-Help version opens in all earlier Microsoft Windows versions: Win3.1, Win 95, Win98X, 2000 and XP.

The "yellow question mark button" is for the newer CHM Htm/Html type version: It opens and is supported in all Microsoft Windows versions. I recommend that you download this version.

See my conditions and download instructions below.

Download size for both versions is approximately 3 MB.

(At the moment only English versions exist. If someone wants to translate them into other languages that would be very nice indeed; feel free to do so. Unfortunately, I can't pay for this and it would have to be done voluntary.

Hebrew versions:
I am still working on the Hebrew language versions, and if someone wants to volunteer to help me do it, that would be really appreciated; I am sorry, but I can't pay you anything for doing this.)

Paint Shop Pro is a wonderful user friendly programme to use full of useful tools.

Due to the Microsoft Security update 896358 users on a network who wish to view .chm help files will need to alter the registry. Microsoft has released a support page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896358 giving various options. The following solution is from http://www.helpscribble.com/chmnetwork.html

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following subkey:
If this registry subkey does not exist, create it.
3. Right-click the ItssRestrictions subkey, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type MaxAllowedZone, and then press Enter.
5. Right-click the MaxAllowedZone value, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. Quit Registry Editor.

Another solution is to right click a downloaded file and in Windows Explorer right click on the file and left click on Properties. In Properties, left click the Unblock button. See Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902225/ for more information.

WinHlp [Winhelp] files are not affected by the 896358.

If you find that in either Microsoft Vista or Microsoft Windows 7 you are unable to view a WinHlp type file, then see below and download the appropriate file.

Note for Vista and Windows 7 there's a Microsoft programme which you can download, which lets you view WinHlp type files. Here are the links:

For Microsoft Vista Windows Help Viewer: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148

For Microsoft Windows 7 Windows Help Viewer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=258aa5ec-e3d9-4228-8844-008e02b32a2c

xchm programme for Linux

.chm files can be opened with this programme. Check the Linux Repositories to download and install it. Many Linux distributions have this programme installed already. I haven't found a programme that will open Win-Help type files in Linux. The only advice I've seen is to decompile and create in the newer .CHM format HTM/HTML type file.

The following applies to earlier versions of Microsoft Windows, If you do not have Microsoft Windows 10, either upgrade or install it: You are running security risks. The Internet is full of advice how to install Microsoft Windows 10. If however you do not want to upgrade or install it, then install a Linux distribution!!!

Emergency Registry Repair Procedure

Emergency Registry Repair Procedure: Microsoft has a fix that you can use. Are you having the problem with installing Microsoft Windows XP Pro or Home SP3 updates after downloading them? The problem occurs when you use your Windows XP Setup disk to repair Windows instead of undertaking a clean-fresh installation, though I have found it can also occur on a clean install: Although the files are on the Hard Disk, because of the new 2007 changes at Microsoft Update, the file that installs them is not registered in the Registry. I followed their instructions on the Microsoft Support page. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=822798 The following is a link to a pdf file of the Microsoft Support page regarding non update of drivers in Microsoft Windows XP SP3. You can download this

You should also download and install the latest Windows 4.5 Redistributable for Windows XP (left click the download button and save it to desktop. It can be downloaded from Microsoft Updates: new computer programmes like Microsoft Office 2007/2010 and newer office versions may need this installer to install them. You have to restart your computer after installation. Windows 7 and 8 updated Window Installer files are available.

Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable              This is the download link for the Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable, which Microsoft says can update any earlier versions. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en Below is the Microsoft Blog link regarding the new Windows 7 Installer.                                                                                  Windows Installer 5.0 for Win7

Latest SDK for Windows Installer 5.0 http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windows_installer_team/archive/2009/08/12/latest-sdk-for-windows-installer-5-0.aspx . Windows 10 has a later version of a Windows Installer.

Reset Internet Explorer to its original state as Microsoft Windows installed it.              If you have a difficult problem with Internet Explorer, you can reset it to its original state that Microsoft Windows installed. See this web page it has pictures to show you how to do this. http://www.go-remove-malware.com/urgent-help/reset-internet-explorer/

.net updates are downloaded but they won't install. Take a look at this web page for the answer that works. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx
This mainly happens due to having installed .net versions in the wrong order. After you use their fix you have to re-install earlier versions first before the latest .net 4.5. He recommends that you use this .net clean up tool as a last resort, however it does work.
